AFrame/SmokeLodge Plan

What needs to be done:
- Space must be cleared of all contents. Can store these on another part of site if they have inherant value. Burn otherwise/rotted. Push ashes into the garden/composting.

- Two side walls/larger need rebuilding. Beams solid, so it's a matter of filling the void so to speak. Wall facing the main interactive areas [once covered in hides] to be replaced with a structure of glass bottles and red clay/fiberous materail combination.

- Need to get an exact inventory of the bottles on site to estimate how many more need to be purcured from friends. Check to see if the colors could be sorted. I am thinking rows of matching colors might be uber cool. Dick has already approved my using the stock there, as they were flagged for recycling anyhow *make flyer asking for friends to help with this aspect.

- Like the pyramids, this wall needs to be thicker at the bottom to balance the weight above

- Clay to come from creekbed nearby and from drainage plan. Trenches lined with metal or plastic dug from under the run off points at the roof down to the creek with a slow sloping affect to improve h2o quality before returning to the earth [think stream to creek for water run off redirection]

- Fireplace needs mortaring and reconstruction for improvement. Use supplies on hand and build into this wall more by encorporating a hearth/seating around fire.

- This project to be worked on with each trip until completed, not intended to be a one day job by any stretch

- Opposite wall going to be corrogated metal. This is in abundance on site as scrap and would not take away from the main building supplies entangled in the death stuff. More can be obtained as we tear down the Baytown barn.

- MoonRoof must be restructured for enclosure. That plastic was a stupid idea. Again metal on site. Could hinge for ventilation, but a rigging method would have to be figured out so you wouldn't have to climb up there to do it.

- Second floor must be removed. Thinking of rebuilding at a later date in a different way. [Instead of centered attic affect, possibly building around the edges coming outward and using it for storage. OR getting some plastic netting for the majority of the space and using it for storage] IF there is a way to salvage half of it where it's not rotted then it will be saved.

- Need to decide if it gets a new front door. Might be able to reinforce the existing one or bring one from Baytown when we replace all those.

- COST DRIVEN ITEM - I want the metal on hinges so that they can be propped open for air on hot days. I would like the type of things like we had on the big glass wall of the waterville house. Screening would then be needed in the AFrame, so it too is a cost factor but it could be attached at a later date. *special design already sketched, but must find sketch.

- Might go look in junkyards for old frame work for RV windows. These might do the trick. This may mean we have to cut the metal to size and add more beams between, but could be worth it and very interesting to look at.

- COST DRIVEN ITEM - Solar lighting for the building like the ones on the porch in Baytown. This is going to be a very dark space without traditional power

- COST DRIVEN ITEM - The floor. Not so cool with just dirt. Indoor outdoor rugs on poured cement to raise the floor would be preferred but could be added at a later time.

- COST DRIVEN ITEM - Solar powered ceiling fans. Want one on each side of the ceiling if possible.

- COST DRIVEN ITEM - I want a parachute like my old one to hang from the ceiling to lower the air pocket required to warm the space in the winter and to trap hot air up there in the summer.

When construction completed, then items contained to be evaluated and assembled. I forsee this as the space I could put all the mattresses I have managed to collect to cover most of the floor. My Mexcian furniture could go in here to solve storage and countertop situations. I can see the alter set up on top of the big dresser on one wall or on top of the trunk. [Although I would prefer to keep it accessable for bedding/blankets.]

*I am wrapping my mind about how to go foward with my plan. The AFrame is unwanted. It's the part of the Acorn that all my memories of it are entangled with and it's not valuable enough to be wrapped up in the death stuff. I am trying to figure out how to do this project on damn near a zero budget and as offgrid as possible. I figure if all else fails then I have a place to land when the dust clears. I doubt I could live in it full-time, but it could be a good retreat within the compound with plenty of air to breathe and room to move around. An escape from the elements.
